Hey everybody.
No, I haven’t been on the bay in a while. Because I Haven’t really heard any good walleye reports yet. And the perch reports are to scarce and isolated for me to spend all day in a boat with my complaining brother. I have been back for some more West Side Salmon action though. Went back over on the 25th of September and the 5th of October. Still had some good action both casting plugs and bobber fishing globed spawn on the 25th. But that action has slowed now with the fish getting older and darker as they swing into full-spawn mode. We did however intice 7 salmon into biting on the 5th, using my old style Drfit Boat techniques with my Jet Boat. Running short lines and letting the boat to drop back slowly near the salmons beds was the ticket on the 5th. Smaller (non-threatening) offerings that look like egg stealing rainbows were just the ticket to get these fish to strike. But this will be my last trip on the West Side rivers till next year. Might go back one more time to do some big/boat big/lake fishing for 3 year olds and steelheads, but I feel the good Bay walleye bite is very close now. I will be trying both the river and bay in the next couple of weeks. Hold tight, it won’t be long. Be safe, fish smart and tight lines. Capt. Dan.
