Capt. Dan’s Fishing Report 8/10/2013

Nice catch

Nice catch

Well, the bite has stayed status quo a lot longer this summer then many previous years. I think the cooler weather that fallowed that short lived summer heat wave we had, kept many of the walleyes that would have migrated North right where they were in the inner Bay this season. Many walleyes are still being caught in those mid-range 15 to 18 FOW depths as the surface temps are staying in those mid-June temperature ranges. The schools of fish seem to be traveling in smaller, tighter schools and moving around a lot more, but is to be expected as the bait fish are getting bigger and their numbers continually being reduced through predation. It won’t be long with these cooler nights that the fall trolling lull and both the perch and walleyes start their slow migration towards the Saginaw River mouth.

As always be safe, fish smart and tight lines.
Walleye fishing has been GREAT!
