Hey everybody.
Sorry once again for the Lag time between reports. I sold my charter Jet Boat early this spring, ordered another/last brand new personal boat and have only recently fished the Bay (this spring) with the brother in his boat. Everything as you know seems later this year because of the long, cold winter. But it seems things have a way of catching up fast in Mother Natures time-table. The walleye bite is on right now in and along the near shore, shallow waters of the Bay. But finding water that’s not almost like liquid mud right now is the key to locating biting fish. Or at least the ones that can actually see what your offering. Like mentioned, the brother and I went fishing and limited out on 4-21 after an hour of looking for and eventually finding some cleaner waters. Some pictures of that action are posted below. As usual, for us anyways, long-A bombers were the hot crankbait for catching these shallow water walleyes freshly dropping out of their spawning river systems. It’s also looking like the opener on the river systems on Saturday the 26th has the potential to be both a good and extended one. The still cooler river water temps, combined with the still higher water levels, will stall many of the lingering walleye males post spawn migrations out of the river systems. Giving everyone who owns even a small boat a chance to catch some very nice walleyes. So wherever you decide to fish, be safe, fish smart and tight lines. Capt. Dan.
