Relatives called the Coast Guard about 11 p.m. Monday to report that the men, ages 46 and 82, hadn’t returned from a fishing trip.
The crew of a helicopter from Air Station Detroit spotted a red distress flare launched by the fishermen about 2 p.m. Tuesday and within minutes located their 19-foot craft. A 41-foot boat from the Coast Guard’s Saginaw River station retrieved the men several miles east of Pinconning, about 125 miles north of Detroit.
The Bay City Times says the men, whose names were not released by the Coast Guard, were reunited with their relatives by 2:45 p.m.
