Good Walleye Catches on Saginaw Bay

Hey Gang.

Well, I’ve made the decision and it was a tough one. I’m not going to be chartering any longer out of my 25′ Grady White Charter Boat. Even though I’m healing fine from my spring accident and surgery, just one more accident like it could put OL’Capt Dan on the sidelines for an extended period of time. I will still be chartering out of my smaller boat on the rivers and near shore waters of the bay though. This of course is a two person charter only and only during ideal and adequate weather conditions when fishing the bay. I’m selling my Grady White for what would be considered a steal, considering it’s condition and what comes with it. I hope you will forgive me posting it here ahead of my actual fishing report. But Larry was kind enough to allow me to do so, and somebody in our area might want to take advantage of this deal before the hard water season approaches. So here it is.

1979 254 Grady White KingFish. 9′ 6″ beam. Twin axle Rite-on all Aluminum Trailer. Boat has Twin 470 Merc Cruisers, both rebuilt top to bottom 2003. Boat is clean, sound and charter ready. No downriggers. Boat used for walleye fishing only 3 months a year, last 13 years on Saginaw Bay.

Boat also comes with Raytheon RC-420 GPS Chart plotter with Sag/Bay C-nav chip, which has all my saved GPS fishing numbers for the last 20 years on it. Brand new (Bought at Franks this spring 2011) Lowrance HDS5X color fishfinder never used. Yamaha 8 horse/4 stroke High Torque outboard mounted on back for trolling, with TR-1 Gold Auto Pilot installed.

Recent boat maintenance includes New InVision Boat Works Poured/Rebuilt/Guaranteed Transom, Spring of 2010. All New, full Outdrive Bellows/shift cables/engine coolent impellers, both engines spring 2011. New bottom paint, spring 2011. New seats/deck paint summer 2010. Many New Maintenance Items added/replaced the last 2 years. Past recent full 2010 DNR boat Inspection and Full Boat inspection Survey with flying colors. All receipts and work/maintenance documentation last 5 years with boat if asked for. $10,000.00 Firm. Call Capt. Dan Manyen at 989-893-4802. Pictures of boat below.

As far as the fishing goes, it has slowed some because of the warm weather. But good catches are still being made with harnesses and bouncers trolling along that last 12 to 14 foot ledge on the western side of the black hole. Also on the SW side of Little charities island in 14 to 16 FOW, as well as along the Eastern shoreline between Caseville and Port Austin in 28 to 32 FOW. Me and Two friends fished out of Caseville last Wednesday 8-03-11 and did well with both spoons and spinners. Pictures below with boat pictures. As usual be safe, fish smart and tight lines.

Capt. Dan.
